This isn’t self-written, Mary is actually singing “America’s Skin (41 shots)” by Bruce Springsteen to the Secretary of State. The song was written by Springsteen after the 1999 shooting death of Guinea immigrant Amadou Diallo, who was shot at 41 times by four plain-clothes NYPD officers.
The commercial aired immediately following the debates and it promotes an upcoming music show titled, The 411. The full interview will air tomorrow, September 30th on Apple Music.
